I have been reading this thread with interest, as I had to get a replacement key as my fob was split and taped together. I went to a local key cutter and shoe mender and I'm happy to say that he cut me a new key and copied my transponder code into a machine and then put the code into the new key fob that I bought from him, and it looks and works just like my original Volvo one. I have a 1997 S40 and the key cutter man said it will only work on the earlier cars as it has a static code and not a moving code like the later cars have.I think I paid around £25.00 for it ,hopes this helps anyone with a phase 1 car.

so has anyone managed to get the key cut for the s/v40 groove.

apparantly, the grooves for the new flip key upgrade is in the center while the s/v40 grooves are almost to the sides

I am thinking of getting a blank piece of alloy/brass and get it cut to the flip key shape, then get the grooves cut to the s/v40 groove position, thing is i don
t know what metal or where to source the metal material

help anyone?

I am trying to get the whole blade cut from brass, so it things go well, the flipblade could well be used for the ph2 x40s!

might consider cutting a few more if it is cheaper and sell it here for those who are really into the flipblade type
