I reckon the unused connector in yours looks like it would be the one for an electric seat...

Thanks for the comparison.

I've asked on ebay and none of the breakers in there have the connector blocks (bugger).

I will put a wanted post on here but until. I can find one, I think I am a bit stumped unless I use the live from heated seat and lose the heating function to gain seat adjustability?

Don't do that! It doesn't have the current capability!

Understood.

What I am not understanding is how the 'here's how you do electric seats into a manual seat car' guide asks for just a live and an earth when there are 4 terminals all needing a connection at the seat.

Does some sort of splitting or jumping happen close to or in the plug to split the feed?

Cheers,

F

What year/model is your car and what year/model did the new seats come from? I'll try and find some diagrams to work out what's happening. Also are the new seats memory seats?

By rights, a standard electric seat only needs a +12V and a 0V feed so as long as you have those, it should work - if it has memory functions they may not work though.

Thanks for being so willing to help.

My car - M895OTH - 1995, manual, originally cloth seats which were heated (if broken).

Donor car - unknown. Seats are full leather in a very dark grey (not black). They have memory functions and SIPS (no power required for actuation just a charge that goes pop. If hit).

As you say in the guide they only mention the black wire with white as live and black as negative.

What I would do is try wiring up the seats out of the car and battery and see what happens when Live and neutral connected to the seats supply.

Fuse the live. This way a mock up gives less risk of damaging car looms and may find most things work.
I wonder if the 4 wire block is the memory function?

James

The seat istself should work with just two wires delivering the power along the lines of what James suggests but note my comment ot him below!

Altered your words a little James - "Live and neutral " are for alternating current in other words mains voltages! That could be scary - electric seat becomes electric chair, frying tonight!

Slightly tongue in cheek but you get the idea?

Fairly sure you're right on the other two wires being for the memory functions, i'll look in a bit, first though my car has turned yellow with pollen and i can't see out, the wash-wipe is only smearing it and making it worse! Hosepipe treatment beckons!

James,

I then wonder if the 4 pin connector already in the car would give the power needed to just do seat movements and not memory.

Below is a pic of the pins and wires in the 4 pin plug beneath the DS seat...

I dont know what it is doing at present...
