The rear seal? Is it on the timing side or gearbox side? What engine ect? Sound like to me it's the d5 engine with the crappy core plug on the gearbox side?

Is it engine oil or gearbox oil/AFT ? either could leak from there. Either way the gearbox will have to come out . If its definitely engine oil then the seals can be re-vitalised as a temporary measure by adding some stop leak to the engine oil . This softens the seal stopping the leak but it is a temporary fix . I believe Wynns and Lucas market it it . Seals can go hard with some oil over time ,Older Castrol oils used to be the worse fore hardening seals . The actual rear crank seal is a simple replacement once the gearbox is out of the way and doesn't cost much any decent garage should be able to do it . Cost is mainly labour . Its unusual for a D5 to leak oil at the rear seal . The 5cyl petrol regularly leaked a few drips after a run again due poor maintainance or using certain oils .

If its ATF or gear box fluid you can also buy a additive that will swell the seals stopping the leak marketed by Wynn's ,Lucas or Blue Devil sold in Halfords , again a temporay fix . A proper fix will more expensive as most garages wont mess with an auto box but will either refer you to an auto specialist or try to talk you into a recon box .
