Yes, but i added in a fuse for backup.... probably won't need it but.

His module must be a resistor under black heat shrink 👍

Easiest "mod" I've ever put on a car and very effective. With a 39p resistor from Maplin, a couple of bits of wire, a blade type fuse and 20 minutes soldering my rear lights have now been upgraded. I suspect the wire wound resistor and the fitting of the fuse is a bit of overkill but it does the job, thanks Tony for working out the fuse size - the result looks perfect.

Just need to change the number plate lights for LEDs and job's a good 'un.

PS. Car needs a wash.........

I don't understand how this blade fuse comes into things. Any chance of a diagram of what has been done here?

Thanks

I don't think it really serves any purpose (assuming it's in series with the feed from the lower lights to the upper unit). In the unlikely event of one of the sets of LED lamps going short circuit it would blow the existing fused supply that is feeding it at the time. On the other hand, the mod can be reversed by just pulling the fuse.

The fuse may serve no purpose but when I don't know where the wires run from that I have crossed I'm not taking any chances. For all it cost it would my mind at ease putting a fuse that cost penny's in rather than a headache.

I can do a diagram but from that video on page 1, I put a fuse in the red wire. You can put a plug in so you can remove the mod at any time or solder in.

Now to find a way to do something to my footwell lights and improve my headlights.....

How do you get the wires to connect in the power connector?

I used scotch lock splice connectors, the way the Guy in the video does it looks poor.

I'm no spark so other people may do it another way or the 'proper' way.

Agreed. Although I've not rewatched it, it looked as though he just pushes some wire into the hole next to the connected wire and then cable ties it on.

What gauge / colour of splice connector did you use and what gauge of wire?

Also, which colour wire did you attatch the fuse that sits between the resistor and the harness to? And does it matter - i assume it would be to the cable providing the power feed though?

Thanks
Shinjuku

I had a look at the video and paused / zoomed etc and looks like he is using these push in terminals (see attached).

I have ordered some from RS along with some resistors and will report back once delivered and I can trial them.
