Thanks.

Looking at the numbers, it looks like the T5 petrol engine. Nice.....

Another article mentions the new 1.6 Turbo charged 4 cylinder engine with 180bhp. It also mentions a 2.0 Turbo with 220-230bhp that will both find their way into current line of models.

Sounds like interesting times ahead.

Default V100

Couple of pics of V100 from online motoring sites. Not that sure about the front myself. Could just be artist impression though rather than real thing!

I'll give Volvo the benefit of the doubt and wait until these cars become available before saying yes or no. The release pictures (not the concept stuff) try to make the cars look good from a certain angle, but looks can be very deceivingly... The cars look much better when you see them from your own perspective because you see what you like, rather than what the designers like, or what they think looks good, or will look good to potential customers.

One thing I'm having trouble accepting from the new range is that big frumpy logo on the grille. That's simply my own opinion. All the car manufactures are going down the overstated grille look and I actually like a lot of them, just not Volvo. The spaced out Volvo badge on the back stands out a lot, so that's 'working', but it just looks so out of place.

As for a V30? Estate? Who are they kidding? That thing will be nothing short of a 5-door hatch. The V50 seems pretty small as it it. Is the V60 supposed to replace the V50? I like the V50 I see in the drawing, but that bodyline really kicks everything else out of proportion.

If only they based the V100 off the VCC Concept Car...

The V30 is simply a way of adding two extra doors on the C30. I personally think Volvo messed it up big time by NOT releasing a 5 door version of the C30 at launch.

Be interesting to see what it looks like.

The article did not mention anything about the V50.

Sorry, I mean I like the V60 you attached to your post (other than the weird bodyline)!

I'm wondering if they release the V30, will they then replace the current V50 with the V60 and further more what'll happen to the V/XC70 if a V100 came into the loop. I think it's all very questionable as Wagons appear to be a think of the pass now (in the North American market anyway).

Personally, I still think that the 940 Series was, and still is, the best Volvo ever produced. BRING IT BACK !!

These modern 'jelly mould' shapes do absolutely nothing for me, and as many other car owners have found, with all manufacturers, servicing these computers on wheels, is so outrageously expensive that only the very wealthy can even afford to run them, never mind buy them.

It all comes back to the same solution for me whenever I go to buy a car. I would NEVER buy a new car anyway, despite being well able to do so.

Heated steering wheels, DVD players built into headrests, and the 'so essential' built in satnav and all the rest of it, are just so much window dressing.

Is that SO difficult for car manufacturers to understand.

All I want is a car that will go from A to B, reliably, comfortably and economically. One that I can service myself, and one that will last for a good long time. One that will do 70mph. One that will cope with all weathers (even like it is now). I reckon that the first manufacturer that brought out a basic model as above would sell millions of them to drivers all over the globe, because people are more interested in economy now than ever before.
