the AW box is the same as fitted to the supras , so i wouldnt be suprised if it can actually take more power than claimed .
if you start with a 2.5 engine , fit t5 pisyons , 3.0 crank , youll have an early t5 engine spec in 6 cylinder guise , and about 2.8 litres . biggest problem is the turbo feed and drain .

Oh, and it would be easier to start with a 3.0l engine and simply fit the T5 pistons Especially since the 2.5 has the same block as the 3.0

well , ill stand corrected on gearboxes , especially autos , hatefull things .
BUT , the bore is different on 2.5 and 3.0 litre models , since the 2.3 5 cyl is 81mm , as per the 6 cyl 2.5 engine .

I'd still take the 3.0 though, as the early T6s were 2.9l (B6304F) with a turbocharger... So parts would fit and you could get the approx. 270 hp with a few little tweeks. Not to forget the change of the valves, as they wouldn't withstand a longer turbo "thrash".

First of all thank you all for your input. I had no idea a couple of you were already thinking about it, I have been offered a cheap 740 so this may become some guinea pig for a 6 pot t6 something or other or as someone suggested earlier a tweaked 6 pot if it goes in. The other half is moderately excited about this as i wanted to do a 6 pot conversion on our old 245 a couple of years ago but never got round to it as seemingly working on the house we'd just bought was more important - can't understand why as i thought going upstairs to plug the downstairs lights into a 13amp socket rather using the switch in the room was quite acceptable! I have also mentioned Suspension before in the past as our 960 could be more fun if it didnt roll (body Roll that is) was cut down a bit any suggestions? poly bushes?
Any way chaps enjoy your weekend i know i will as the sun's shining my 960 is here and not in glasgow and is filthy so a days cleaning is in order. Ian |

if im allowed to suggest theres three different cam styles for the sixes , NA 170hp , 204hp , and the t6 style which may fit from an early t6 engine .
best idea is to look at turbobricks and kennys 245 t6 conversion . point is the early t6s were 3 litre crank , 2.5 block , t5 pistons , BUT all the other stuff to turbocharge it . the later ones are even better in that respect with VVT , at that point is better to find a t6 engine and whack that in , since the later t6 engine can cope with higher boost pressure .

If you want a seriously good autobox, try the yank GM TH400. Fitted with truck duty clutch packs, seals and brake bands they can take mind blowing power. All the top US drag racers use them with Donavon modified 8.2 litre Cadillac V8's puting out 3,000+ bhp and running quarter's in less than 6 seconds. If you go manual, look for a "World Class" series T5 box, way better than the standard T5 and a hell of a lot stronger, they'll handle 800 odd bhp. There's a great article on D24T.com about it, it gives all the mods needed to fit one in a Volvo.

Old thread I know
I'm quite keen to strap a turbo to my V90, just low boost pressure so as not to over stress the engine but just give it that bit of extra go |
