2004 Volvo V70R
Just a wee bit of history to set the scene, i purchased this approx 18 months ago off another forum member, car had a running issue and was sold as such, believed to be zero compression on cylinder 2, so quite a gamble at the time, but these are an iconic cars, the previous owner had owned it for 12 years and looked after it extremely well, I didn't want the car to go to a breaker, so a deal was done and the car was transported over to Cumbria.
I find it its not easy these days getting garages to take on big jobs, fortunately i found a local garage who were happy to take the job on, better still the garage is owned and run by two highly experienced, one being being an ex dealer Volvo Mechanic the other a BMW. These boys are very busy, the message was clear i was in no rush, the important thing was we just get it right. Fast Forward to August this year and we now have a V70R back on the road running and driving beautifully, its been quite a journey and other work has been done since, the main works and culprit following investigation was down to a burnt valve, as a result the head was removed and sent off for re skimming and all valves were replaced and lapped in by a specialist, this was then brought back to Autotek for refitting, I'm sure you'll know that when you start something as major as this, your stripping off that many parts it generally doesn't end there, cam belt, water pump, flexi pipes, gaskets etc etc, the bill was well into 4 figures and could of been a lot more labour wise but due to our agreement on time was kept sensible. Happy to discuss this further, but thats the high level synopsis. Why my selling, at the time of purchase i had a unit with a couple of classic cars, this was going to join them, unfortunately the unit has gone and so have the cars, I was determined to get this finished, but knew the time would come when id have to sell, i have another car through work and it would be a crime to see the R just sitting outside not getting used. Thats the back story and heres the car 2004 Volvo V70R UK version 6 Speed Manual Totally standard 455 Titanium Grey Metallic with GOBI Interior High spec car, including phone, sat nav and sub woofer in boot area. History is comprehensive, generally Volvo for servicing and warranty work, specialist otherwise, has had some big hitters replaced by the previous owner and me :- To name a few... Angle Gear Turbo Clutch and DMF 3 x Cam-belts and Water Pumps Brake lines front to back Drop links and track arms Fuel filler neck Regular servicing NEW battery Clutch position sensor x 2 front genuine Volvo wings fitted and painted, plus other minor body work correction Folder full of receipts, including Volvo book pack and 2 keys 3 previous owners 123k 10 months Mot Booked in for a detail in the next couple of days and will be ready for collection soon after.
