I'd hang onto it TBH. These are great cars but they're not fetching what they "should" (in our eyes) in the market anymore.

GLWTS regardless!

I know, I had a look on pistonheads, ebay and autotrader and the prices vary massively. I've seen a 2.0T go for £400 on a v plate yet other T4's with less spec and more miles are up for as much as £4000. I've seen the motor I want though so I'll take a hit on this, plus I've been offered it cheap. Its back on ebay with a reserve of £2000. If it doesn't sell for this I will keep the car though. I paid £2800 less than a year ago for it.

So £2000 takes it!!

just as an idea I sold my near mint 2001 S40 T4 with 69k on and a full service history, leather interior, upgraded stereo & multi changer, and 17" alloys for £1800, & I struggled to sell it I was expecting to get nearer to 2k (that was about 3-4 months ago now), I think the market is just crap at the minute, & people don't rate the T4 as anything special (which I know is wrong as they are awesome cars), I'm car hunting at the minute and the price range on cars is surreal at the minute some are really cheap and some people think their cars are worth fortunes. I would say the market has come down a lot in the last 4-5months especailly, I'm looking at cars now that 3-4months ago (when I was looking after the T4) were out of my price range but are now easily in my range, I would say that you'd be doing well to get the 2k..

Have you had codes read to see if anything flags up? There are various things that could give poor mpg that are not obvious, one being O2 sensor. A few folks have seen a dramatic increase in mpg when O2 sensor(s) was/were replaced.

Thanks mate, do I have to go to a stealer's to get the codes read? It seems to be running spot on, thought it may be down to me having a lead right foot.

It is down to the lead foot mate, mines slightly modded and if I really try round town I only get 23/25 mpg, on the moroways at 70 I sit nicely at 43 mpg that's the barmy thing about these motors
