Default Which thermostat?

Hello, i'm about to order a few parts for the car, and give her much love,

New Rad Hoses,
New water pump seals
New anti roll bar linkages + bushes,
New anti roll bar bushes mounted to the body,
New rear brake pads and shims,
New coolant expansion tank cap

I'm going to replace the thermostat as its easy to get to and it in that area, should i use a 82 or a 92 thermostat?

To over simplyfy things, the cooler gives more power the hotter better economy. You pays your money and makes your choice.

You sure about that? Running the engine as hot as possible gives more efficiency across the board. You want as big a difference between inlet and outlet as possible.

I'd always go for a thermostat as hot as possible, unless the car's got an issue with overheating - like you do loads of steep hills with full throttle, then hit stationary traffic with no ram airflow

Yep million percent certain.Though obviously there are limits as to how high or low a temp you can go. Most modern engines are designed to run at near boiling to optimize the lust for economy. 82 will have the engine sufficiently hot to run smooth but give a better explosion in the chamber. It is then down to keeping the air intake as cool as possible to improve things further.

If you look at the two thermostat photos on my project thread you'll see that the temperature is stamped onto the thermostat (92 in my case).
