Default Realistic MPGs - S90 T8

Just having a small wonder to myself now used versions of this car are closer to my budget for replacing my S90 D4 next year.

Does anyone have an S90 T8?

What sort of economy will I get on a 45 mile dual carriageway commute cruising at 60-65mph??? I get between 60-70 MPGs in the D4

I appreciate nobody may be able to answer this but thought I’d try.

Thanks.

Are you going to be charging the battery daily? Using hold does give quite good economy. I would Guess 45 to 50 MPG it really is only a guess though, it may be more, doubt you would see figures of 70 mpg, but my T8 does surprise me sometimes.

That is basing range on around 24 niles at start of the journey

I get around 40 to 45 MPG sometimes near 50 in my XC 60 T8 on a journey 60 miles long and that is around 40 miles of motorway, traveling way faster than your 65 mph.

If you are getting that remarkable kind of mpg i would stick to what you have , The T8 is capable of better economy of over 100 mpg if driven in the right circumstances and plugged in as often as possible at both ends of the journey ..
However the T8 is much heavier and much more expensive car , i can't see the overall costs being much ( if at all ) lower than they are now ...A T8 cruising at 60 mph does not get the chance to regenerate much electricity so you would use it as an electric car as such ...

I have a very economy friendly commute.

Interesting reading a review of the 530e (another option that gets much better reviews than the 90 T8) seems to suggest fuel costs over 10,000 a year are less than half than the equivalent diesel costs (for the 6 pot diesel). That article was written before the gulf in petrol and diesel prices was less than the 10-11p a litre it is now. If I can get 50mpgs from a 530e then the fuel cost difference might be in favour of petrol. Depends if the diesel vs petrol cost differences continues to increase.

I’d only be able to plug at home. Work is a no.

My MPG so far over 15k miles is 57.4 MPG been that for ages, but my average journeys are like 20- 40 miles with just a few longer journeys every week or around trips like 120 miles. I do charge it nightly, and sometimes in the day.

I have a S90 T8 and have travelled 7216 miles with an average consumption of 31 MPG

I do charge it when I am at the office, mostly anyway, and on short journeys can achieve 145 MPG without issue, it becomes a challenge with a full battery

I do a lot of long journeys where obviously a diesel would be far better but the T8 is so much more tax efficient as a company car.

The main issue I have with frugality is the totally outstanding performance the T8 gives when pressed.

It's awesome.

And addictive.

Sadly all my journeys are 80-90 miles. Hardly ever use my car for shorter therefore I think it’s not the platform for me. It’s a shame.

Mrs on the other hand regularly does less than 30 miles a day - maybe we should be replacing her XC60 with a plug-in.

60-70mpg on a 45mile commute is brilliant! At 60-65 on my commute I'll get about 55mpg on a v60 d4! Though I think mine may be slightly inclined uphill.

As the weather warms up the numbers get better. Depends on the wind too.
