Default 2010 volvo S40 - HELP where is the oil filter????

Hi

S40 ES - D2 115bhp -2010

No reply to my post regarding oil change - just done it - took off the plastic cover under engine - sump directly in the middle - dropped the oil but could not find the oil filter housing?

Is it in the sump?????????

Help to rest my mind if I know where it is . Thanks.

Hi

Thanks for the reply - yes I know its paper element.

My astra is a paper element - but it fits in analloy housing with a plastic domed lid - with a 36mm hex nut on it.

Thumbs up

you might need a torch , you are right about the type , most engines have these fitted now and they are usually black so making it somewhat tricky to spot at first ,, refit by hand at first so you dont cross thread it ..

Its on the gearbox end of the engine. You will need to remove the air filter housing to get access to it.

Thank you for all your updates.

Yes I've found it - the filter housing is tuclked under the air inlet/cooling hose top end of the engine - just about as awkward a place as could be!

At least i've found it - hurray!

Easy enough to get to once the air box is out.

Default Ease of access - oil filter

Hi

Fair point - but what happened to common sense & practicality!

Plenty of room round the rest of the engine.
