Tempting but I would never get away with it - skating on thin ice as it is insisting that we use a 16 year old 240 instead of a more modern box.

This one was on ebay last week - bidding closed at just over 1K - it didnt reach its reserve - looks pretty similar!

Some of us use old stuff all the time! I have had just three breakdowns in more than thirty years and well over 300,000 miles - probably 400,000 by now.

Two were coil failures, fixed in seconds, the other was head gasket failure in a three year old car - and the only one fault I didn't fix myself in five minutes. One coil failure was in a brand new coil, in the days when we were advised to change them every few years for the sake of reliability.(!) I just put the old one back on and it lasted the life of the the car. I haven't changed a coil as part of routine maintainance since.

Hope someone buys this - it looks superb!

If anyone wants me to go look at it I'm not that far from Bolton, I can verify things like wheel arches not rusty and the usual stuff if you like.

same one that didn't sell by the looks of the 1st registration date, this guy must have bought it and trying his luck making a bit on it. I hope someone buys it and takes it to some shows, its a great looking car. Just a shame its been up for sale for ages with the previous owner.

at that price for that car it's entirely subjective, ie is it worth it to you... it probably doesn't make good financial sense, but it's a volvo! a 240! with 12000 genuine miles!
