Default How Do I Fit Rear Sunblinds To My 240gl?

Have recently purchased rear retractable sunblinds via local main agents for my cherished 1988 240GL. No instructions came with the fitting. Thought it would be easy to work out - wrong! Securing the blind holders to the parcel shelf straightforward. Problem area though is that there are two hooks which go into the headlining to hook the blinds onto when they are extended. The self tapping screw for each hook pulled straight out of the headlining. Took this up with main agents who thought that there may be pre drilled holes on the metal roof inner skin above the headlining but were at a loss as to how I could pinpoint where these holes were. Can anyone help please? I don't want to destroy my headlining by poking exploratory holes all over it!

Can't specifically answer this but on the saloon the headlining is glassfibre and is easily dropped. If I remember correctly remove sun visors and grab handles (I think that's it) and pull down door seals and it should lower - you cannot fully remove it except by taking rear screen out - you can then see what you've got to fix to. This is all I can suggest unless someone else knows better!

As an aside, many of the younger 240 drivers in my neck of the woods seem to favour what we call a "salmon ladder" to keep the sun out. Or to just look cool!
