Are you sure the fluttering isn't a split, rubber, turbo hose ?

pretty sure , did visually look at them , as soon as the turbo comes in and you give it a bit more gas it goes into limp mode switch off and its good to go again , but this doesnt happen every time , ive tried to work the turbo which helps for a few days then gradually comes back , my daily commute is only a couple of miles so this dont help but i do try and run on motorway at the weekends , its a v70 2004 with 125k and always had very regular oil changes

Check the turbo inlet hose. The vacuum/suction caused by the turbo can cause this hose to collapse under harder acceleration starving the turbo of air. The rubber goes soft with age, give it a squeeze. Caused a fluttering sound and limp mode when it happened to me.
This is more for the picture so you can identify it. Look low down at the rear of the engine. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/363817088...Bk9SR6aCiqToYA Can't guarantee it's the answer, but worth investigation. Last edited by Lancee; Sep 15th, 2022 at 18:53. |
