Default Missing chassis grommets

Spent a lot of time under my S80 chassis last week (changing the clutch slave) and noticed a couple of chassis grommets missing.

As I jacked her up, water spilled out of the grommet holes.

Are they designed to be water-tight at manufacture ?

And once water's in the chassis boxes, does it become a rust time bomb ?

What's my best bet ?

Wait for a hot sunny week and replace the missing ones ?

I know it's old-fashioned now, but you could dry it out and then waxoyl inside. Used to do this with my old landrovers. Literally had to drill the holes in the chassis first though - but it kept the chassis from rusting inside out.

I noticed this on my S60 last summer. Grommits on the flat plate under the front footwell behind the front arms were missing.

Cleaned and dried as much as I could and sprayed a load of motorbike chain wax (was what I had handy at the time) in, fitted new grommits and sealed with wax.

Checked a few weeks ago and the outer wax is still stuck on there.
