After 2 years the same problem has recurred with the same error message.

I'm not sure if this is a sign I need a new BCM pump but today I took out the pump and cleaned the connection again. There was significant dust and fine specks of debris inside the connector.

Doing this a 2nd time around was faster. And I took a few pics

It's best to remove the long bar on top of the engine. And the engine fuse box need to be removed and pushed away. Don't forget to disconnect the battery first

With those away you will have an easy access to the pump.

First 3 screws for the ABS bracket need to be removed. Then you can move the whole module a little bit to get to the 2 torx screw securing the pump

This is a pic after the pump removed. I have cleaned the area already

I've been searching and so far it appears the pump only comes with the module. Does anyone know if the pump can be brought separately? And who makes these pump?

Thank you Aslan
Iam having the same symptoms. Its not the ABS rings though.
I followed Aslan instructions and cleaned the connectors of the pump with contact cleaner.

I didn't take the top bar. Still managed to get the pump out with little bit of fiddling.
For some reason the outer cover of the pump start to come off, leaving the coil intact with the module.
But with a slight pry under the seal lifted the whole pump.

Hopefully the code won't reoccur. If it does , I will update and ask for help.
Thank you Aslan again!!!!

My 2004 XC90 has ABS light on and “ABS/ANTI SKID SERVICE REQUIRED” message displayed.
(These were displayed when I purchased vehicle recently, but was not put off)
I plugged VIDA in today and fault code BCM-0070
I suspect the same, will try cleaning pump mating surfaces tomorrow

I removed the motor again today. Pryed open the sides to remove the coil.
Cleaned up the black graphite bits from the motor. Look like the brushes have been thined down due to the age of the car. May be that is why the connection issue.
There is no absolute way to replace the brush because it is not push and play. There is no screws. I think just to replace the Motor is best way from junk yard or eBay.

Pain in the neck bit was when removing the motor there is a small cup in the ABS unit where the motor spindle goes thru, this part came off with motor.
As you can see in Aslan's post, it is held between two small pushing rods in the sides. This cup came off and it took nearly 3 hrs to figure out to push it back .
Who ever doing this in future take a note of this and use some thing to wedge between motor and abs unit when removing so it won't come off with motor.

Hi sreviz

What happened in the end? Did you replaced the motor? I looked last year for the same part number motor for mine on Ebay but wasn't lucky.

Same issue with the same DTC is recurring again on mine. It's been around 18 months since I cleaned it. Haven't gone around taking the motor off and cleaning it yet. Only confirmed with VIDA today the same DTC. Activating the pump - can hear it loud and strong.

Anyone else has any new solutions for this issue?

Hi, Aslan,

Soryy. I didn't check your post earlier.

The issue came back permanent. Anti skid and bcm service lights on.

Thinking of replacing motor from eBay.

What are your guesses.

Thank you
