V40: genuine Volvo towbar
NB: it's still fitted to the car, and I'm guessing postage may be a little costly if it's heavy (I'll use Collect+ to keep costs down), and I'm hoping that it's an easy job to remove, but I might as well take it off and sell it separately from the car and get a bit of extra cash.
It's got a little bit of surface rust around the bar and the electrics hook, but that'd rub down easily, there's definitely no rot. If anyone can point out a handy guide to removal, that'd be grand but I'm expecting it to be really easy

Is it a twin electric one or a single one? As I may be interested FYI - This is the guide to install the detachable one. Might be of some help.

No idea - I think it's single electric? I'll take a better photo later, I've never used it myself (nor any towbar) so no idea how it works
Conscious that the guide looks quite long-winded, if not too complicated, but not entirely sure how many of those steps are for correct splicing/routing the wiring out of the boot, and specific to the detachable unit. I was expecting to undo a few bolts, and pull the wiring loom through a hole.... I'm also conscious that it'll leave a big hole in the rear bumper - no avoiding that I suppose Shame it's a bit far from Southampton otherwise I'd suggest you could come and steal it off the car

lol if it was near I would! lol Want a proper Volvo one really. My local scrappy had one but was rear ended and the towbar bracket looked ready to fall off... Ideally It should just be a few bolts and cut the cables off from where they connect to the looms should be fine I would think especially if it's only a single plug which it looks like as it only connects to the indicators, fog lights, brake light, side lights and an earth point.

I dislike cutting wiring looms but honestly haven't ever noticed where it comes into the car so that might be the only option

I suspect it'll be tucked behind the bumper heading to the Nearside and go up into the boot through the gap in the rear corner of the boot on the nearside. It'll be behind the carpet and the side thingy ma bob in the boot.

i have a Witter one fitted (by me!)
very easy to fit. i was lucky that i could give £10 to my brother and he let me use a ramp at his work. If my memory serves me correctly it has 9 bolts. 4 each side and 1 going through the towing eye. |

OK, forgot the main question, how much do you want to pay for it, this will determine whether I can be bothered getting underneath and removing it

I would if it was already off the car, but honestly, if that's all they're worth, since I don't have any ramps or axle stands at my disposal, I'd suggest you get one from elsewhere that's already been removed... that sounds like a lot of messing about for £30.
Plus, there's a guy coming to look at the car today with a reasonable "complete" price of £400 on the table, so if he doesn't want the towbar then I might have to remove it, but otherwise I presume it'll go with the car. I have to go and take some more (better) photos (and clean the car) if he doesn't want it, so I can put it on eBay, so I'll have a better look underneath and see what's what.
