Default Dog guard advice XC60- 2018 :)

Hi
Is the Volvo official one worth the money?
I note it folds up out the way in description online.

Are they easy to fit as the part is £216 but fitted Volvo want £270

Any other alternatives ?

I’ve had a travall for Mondeo was great - but would I kick myself not going for genuine one ??

Thanks

I’ve found that the Luggage Protection Net, that comes with the family pack is more than sufficient.

I thought about the dog guard for my previous and present XC60, but I was worried that it would rattle, and in the event of an accident, it would injure my dogs, due to its regidity.

I know it’s available as an individual item, because it’s been discussed here before, or, you can usually source them on eBay.

+1 for the luggage net. I have used this in all 3 XC60’s and found it to be very useful.

I kept the one from my second XC60 (MY17) and it fits perfectly in the MY18 model.

Again the luggage net is all you will need, I had a very large Old English Sheepdog (53kg) and that is all I used and it is easilly stowed away when not required,

We have two greyhounds in an XC90 and use the Volvo metal guard. There is no way that the luggage net would restrain 30 or more kg of dog in a high speed collision and I sincerely hope that nobody has found this out the hard way.
I have an XC60 coming next month and have ordered the official metal guard.

I have to agree.

I had to hard stop on our previous a4 allroad with just the luggage net and one of our dogs hit it so hard it came out its mountings so it's entirely possible the second dog or anything else in the boot could have made it thru.

I've the official volvo dog guard which is crash tested. I also have the divider so we can have some luggage space.

I bought from here and they were cheaper than via the dealer https://www.volvopartshop.com/

I think the reality is in a proper front impact if your dog hits the guard it's going to die. But it's better than having 2x 40kg+ dogs enter the cabin and kill your kids etc

harsh but true.

The VOC discount on accessories is between 10-20% depending upon the dealer (including fitting). Might not save you anything as joining costs £30. But you would save at least 10% on the official service costs.

The rear seats and headrests are high and stop anything flying forward, the guard or net stops dogs trying to climb over the rear seats or licking people sat in the middle row. The net is best to prevent the later.

Everyone seems to have a different opinion about the strength of the load net. It would be nice if Volvo would give us their opinion, preferably backed up with testing.

This is what Volvo writes about them.
The net:
"A practical check pattern safety net in sturdy nylon. The net prevents luggage and
cargo from moving forward into the passenger compartment when braking hard. "
https://www.volvocars.com/uk/accesso...ModelYear=2018
The steel grille:
"A practical protective grille that prevents loads or pets from being thrown forward
into the passenger compartment in the event of heavy braking or a collision."
