Default Annoying stop-start

I find the stop start in my V90 R-design 2018 to be most annoying (would apply to other models I presume).
Very often it does not work for a long period of time after first starting the car...then it suddenly starts working.
On other occasions it starts to work immediately on driving the car even when cold.
It is not possible to permanently disable it, (not that I've found) as it is controlled through the touch screen and does not have a switch as such, which I think is an error on the part of Volvo....why not have a switch similar to the auto brake switch ?
When it does work the engine will cut out even before you are fully stopped and if shifting through the auto box it will restart again even when still stationary.
It becomes very annoying so I quite often just disable on every journey.
I presume others will have similar issues.

Swipe left on the screen , there’s an option there to turn it off.

Yes I've found that, but it has to be turned off every time you drive it...wish it could be disabled permanently. May be possible in software I suppose.

I have found mine works pretty consistently, it did stop working briefly (thanks to the car being idle through lockdown) but it appears to work seamlessly, at least in my view.

For about the first year of ownership we both turned the Stop/Start off every time we drove the car(I still can't see how constant starting of the engine can be good for it but that's not why it exists). Recently I picked up on some people having battery issues with regards to the Stop/Start and so we are using it now.
Sometimes it doesn't work for a journey, sometimes it does but I've noticed that if the car is stationary for a few minutes then the car restarts itself without any input or relaxation of the brake. I think it's going to be back to turning it off but it's a pain each time.
It also resets itself if you change driving mode.

You can program the key to individual modes so I suppose this can be set to Dynamic which disables the stop-start function, but you may not always want to be in Dynamic mode.

Dynamic mode does disable stop/start but stop/start will still be enabled on engine start - part of reducing emissions apparently. I suppose the thinking is that the majority will not disable it so overall emissions will be reduce.

Mine goes long periods without working at the moment, battery not charged enough I assume. If it is working it does cut out before you stop, which is a bit annoying if you don't actually stop, and it starts as soon as you release the brake pedal.

I've got used to it now & just ignore it.

Because it's why you pay reduced VED on the basis of lower CO2 emissions. If you want to permanently disable it then remove the support battery, although I can't see why you'd want to.

I've never had any difficulty handling the start-stop on my V60 so is it possible that it's your driving style? I expect the engine to cut out below about 5 mph, and I've never known it fail to restart within a fraction of a second when, say, approaching a roundabout or a red light going green as I get there.

Are you putting it into neutral or park while you're stationary? Don't. Problem solved.

This is usually because the aircon system requests it. Unlike heating, there is very little residual cold once the engine stops (doesn't apply to a T8 as the aircon is electrically driven).
