At last the weather to do it seeing as I don't have any form of shelter for the car! And the weather so far has been putting the knockers on doing 'The Job'

Started the annual 'spring clean' and 'Renovo it' on my C70 convertible roof. OMG! It was really manky! So far, two and a half scrubbing sessions later, I have found that the roof is actually blue. Well, I'll be more realistic, some slightly varying shades of blue.

And, of course, when you do that to the roof, all the gunge goes down the side of the car - so I had to wash it.

I ache!

Plan for tomorrow (Wednesday)... colour restorer first thing (so it doesn't dry too quickly) and then the protector coat late afternoon.

Thursday? Start the polishing routine?

All because I love my C70!

"Do not apply in direct sunlight, as this will cause the Reviver to dry out too quickly and produce an uneven result!"

"It is important to allow Reviver to dry between coats. Always ensure that you have enough Reviver to coat the soft top completely and that you will not run out half way through application!"

"We advise that to prolong the life of the re-colour provided by Reviver
you should allow 24 hours drying time and then protect it by applying Renovo Ultra Proofer."

Do's and don'ts

Renovo

Following the instructions for this product is imperative.

I was having a chortle with the Australian distributor a bit back

Most all customer complaints come from improper use.
Some of the application indiscretions he described from discussion with customers are unfathomable
explanations of which, the brain was unable to process and have since fallen out of my head

Worked well enough for me, with the good fortune of a garage.

BUY A TENT

Thanks for that gem! The YouTube guide didn't mention that at all! So I shall do it that way.

And the "do's" and "dont's" is valuable as well. Interesting that they say do it in a sort of 'spiral'. Much more logical than the video which reckons it should be done in a 'grid pattern'.

And that picture. Wow, that looks good. My roof is so old and shabby that I don't expect to get results quite that good!

Yeah four days of clean, dry, mask, dye, dry, dye, dry, proof, dry, did you notice the heater.

Won't be doing that **** again.

Now, todays effort will prove far more satisfying

AdditionWell, I've converted to 100% hacked off now.

Gaily painting away with the fabric reconditioner/colour stuff (on the roof of the car) when it dawns on me that there is not enough in the bottle to do all of it! I've done the top and got only a teeny bit left in the bottle; certainly not enough for the sides! Quick... look on the web... Halfords advertise it. Jump in the car and go over there (about eight miles each way in school run time.. oh what fun!). I can't find it on the shelves! Spoke to a delightful young lady and she checked on her computer. It's web order/delivery only! I swore almost solidly and continuously all the way back home.

So, I will have to order some from that well-known auction site and I suppose that by the time another bottle arrives, the weather will be wet again! But I hope not!

Bah, humbug.

And oh for a nice big undercover working area with a heater in it (which, I confess, I didn't notice!)

Ah! I can get a 1 litre bottle there... so I have ordered one. That'll be good as I might even give the whole thing a second coat as a couple of the stains (if you know where to look) that didn't come out with a very thorough cleaning, haven't gone completely.

happydiver, I'm totally confused. Your hood after the Renovo treatment looks immaculate, yet you are replacing it with the new one from the states. Why? What has happened in between? Just intrigued to know, as I follow your posts with interest. Your car, topless, is looking good

Having given your question some seriously awesome thought, I figure that
a new roof must bear comparison to a womans gluteal sulcus
prior to it having been driven for 100000kilometres
through wind rain sleet snow dust and sun
and of course, hydrocarbons.

and of course the dreaded in my own mind
traffic lights stopped next to a bus scrutiny
