Default 740 Rear Shock Absorbers

Hello Everyone,

Hello Everyone,
I have not signed on here for quite a while between one thing and another but happy to be back again and hope to complete some jobs on my 740.
The car is a 1990 (facelift), B200, 740 SE Estate.
Recently, thanks to Luke (360beast) I have replaced the radiator crossmember but that will be another post with pictures hopefully when I figure out how to put them up again.

The rear shocks are leaking slightly so I want to replace them but I am confused. The P/N in the Parts cat I have says 1329501 but in Skandix website it is product number 1000969 with the reference given as 1329500. I assume their P/N with the original reference. My question is has anybody experience of buying these and will they fit? When I enter the VIN Scandix tells me they will fit but I do not know if I can rely on this. Returns are always such a pain.

I have included a link to the Scandix page, I hope it works…..

Can you help?

Looking forward to hearing from you,
Mike

This seems to be a working link to the Pocket Data Booklet for 700, 850 and 900 Volvos from 1991 - 1997.

https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B6p...5ODcxOGQy/view

You can use this to decode your VIN plate to determine the Volvo part number of the shock absorbers originally fitted to your car. This should help you judge compatibility.

The only thing to be wary of is if someone has previously done a proper conversion to/from Nivomats. This involves fitting softer/harder springs respectively. Nivomats can be identified by the vestigial remains of a rubber gaiter over the shaft.
