Default DPF Cleaner + Fuel Cleaners

Whats the general opinions on this

https://www.holtsauto.com/redex/prod...x-dpf-cleaner/

https://www.holtsauto.com/redex/prod...ystem-cleaner/

I am quite happy to through one these in periodically as a preventative measure. I saw a couple of youtube reviews and they seemed to think it helped albeit couldn't clearly substantiate it ...... but i suppose the principle is sound.

Also seen that there is quite a lot of you who suggest avoid supermarket diesel and go for something like Shell V Power etc. ..... worth using that too ?

If you are doing a decent long run on a regular basis I would say that additives for the DPF are entirely unnecessary.

I've ran a few D5 E4s since 2010 and have never had any issue whatsoever with the DPF.

Supermarket fuel is all that I have ever used and again , never had the slightest problem.

Other opinions are available, this is simply mine.

And as always a valuable one.

Regards "decent" and "regular" what would your estimates be.

I am more thinking with the addition of a DPF cleaner before say a fortnightly 50mile + will maybe just enhance the burn and be a bit more efficient as the flip side is that in between it will be multiple short journeys.

Just collected my big Swede from the Volvo indy and asked this question - response was that they add DPF cleaner at a full service and also on request - they offered to add some when I was going on a long trip, just to pop past them and they would do it - as I am local, this is no problem.

I have used fuel cleaners in the past and always felt they helped. Maybe snake oil, but happy to continue to use what seems to help.

That should probably keep the DPF OK.

It has to be given an opportunity to regenerate properly and an uninterrupted 50 mile journey every couple of weeks should, I would have thought, give it an opportunity to carry it out.

Here is an oversight but don't confuse the mention of Eolys additives being required because that is an entirely different DPF to yours.

Yours is essentially maintenance free provided it can self generate.
