Volvo Cars has announced that every Volvo it launches from 2019 will have an electric motor, marking the historic end of cars that only have an internal combustion engine (ICE) and placing electrification at the core of its future business.

Bit of a red herring to grab headlines. Electrification means PHEV/MHEV as well as BEV so as well as having purely electric drivetrains they will also have mild and plug in hybrids that use an electric motor to assist a traditional ICE powerplant

Hybrid is the way to go, I certainly will never buy another diesel.

Most of them will be hybrid, not full electric. There's a fair way to go for the internal combustion engine yet, quite simply because there is so little infrastructure for EVs - plus what about battery manufacturing capacity, range issues and actually producing the required amount of electricity.
As already said, a great headline grabber but ultimately very little in the grand scheme of things.

What impact will this have on trade in values of existing Volvo's especially diesels?
