Thanks for the words of support, fellas, I'm sure there will be more to the story yet. I'll update in due course.

Don't those clips need a special tool though? Or did you invent something? The only reason I use jubilee clips is lack of the tool, but I think the time is right for me to invest in one.

All you need is a smallish pair of “end cutting” pliers. Larger ones work too but they are difficult to work into tight spaces.

Found a jubilee clip in the garage. So I rectified the leak, put me bit of wire back in, pump working, and a gurgling noise told me the fuel was purging air.

So it was all systems go! Grabbed me 'phone to film this momentous occasion, and it started! Yay!

It was very rattley after sitting so long. It did clear up eventually. I presume one of the lifters has lost it's oil and didn't replenish until the oil got warmed up. I've got some new stuff to put in, might do that tomorrow.

Unfortunately, my server is up the creek, rebooted it after fiddling with my samba shares, and it's not responding to any pings, so it's obviously failed to come back up again. So I can't host the video. Has anyone got any server space I can borrow for a few days?
