I have had volvos 940,850,S80 ,XC90 for over 30 years and had no problems with the parking brake operation except for my XC90 .
I believe the design of using a foot brake instead of handbrake mainly contributes to this taking into account the weight of the XC90.
Out of interest does anyone know if they made a XC90 with handbrake applied by hand?

No its not from an XC90 , It is from an Early S80 ..

No , The American market demanded the pedal parking brake , It was changed from auto adjust to manual adjust after a year . The XC90 parking brake will hold properly on the second click if all the standard volvo parts are in good order and properly adjusted on the cable adjuster .
