Default Door speakers not working

Hi

I have the v8 exec model and my door speakers are silent, the tweeters on them work soni know there is power to them but the main speaker is silent. I have had the door cards off and the cones look immaculate. I have tried the factory reset, fade and balance settings no joy.

I have tried to search replacemants of these dnyaudio speakers and there are none available.... does anyone know what the problem could be?

The tweeters and the woofers (midrange) are wired in parallel in each of the 4 doors.

If the tweeters work this confirms the audio system including amplifier is working and the wiring to the door is all OK

Often the DynAudios are driven so hard (loud) that the coils burn out or the flex wires break inside the speaker

If you are handy with a soldering iron, you can remove the speaker and look for any breakages in the flex wire that connects to the voice coil, and try and fix it

Otherwise, replace the speakers.

Lots of 2nd hand speakers on eBay ($$), or ask your local wreckers ($). Test the speakers before you buy them!
Or fit brand new speakers ($$$$)

Thanks swiss. So you think they can be repaired? I know a guy who is handy with an iron.... i saw on ebay there are a lot of std xc90 speakers available. But these are slightly beefier i think (like rocking horse poo to buy) part numbers are 30752353 & 30752352

Not the coil itself as it is bonded to the cone. (and the cone IS the loudspeaker)

The flexible braided wires which are attached to the cone and the terminals can sometimes come loose at the cone end.

With care it can be possible to "sweat" the connection with a small soldering iron and restore the speaker to operation.

If you have access to a multimeter, with the speaker disconnected from the car wiring, measure for resistance on the connection points on the cone where the 2 braided wires connect to the cone (you may have to gently scrape away any insulation that is there) that should tell you if the coil is intact or not.

I suspect the coils will be open circuit and you will need new/replacement speakers

Cheers

Dave
