850 Headlight
I had a bulb go on the passenger side headlight a couple of days ago.
When I came to replace it, the part that holds the bulb in place (not sure of the technical term!) broke looks like metal fatigue probably. Am I right in thinking that I have to replace the whole headlamp unit and that I can't just get the back part? Can anyone recommend where to get one from (I'm in the UK)? I assume the dealer is gonna want to charge me an arm, a leg and a kidney! Cheers Daz |

RE: 850 Headlight
Hi Daz,
Is it just the metal retainer spring that broke? If so it should be easily replaceable. Try www.partsgateway.co.uk for spare parts. Regards Andy |

RE: 850 Headlight
I'm not that lucky for only the clip to be bust!
Its a bit of metal on the back that holds the clip thats broken. The dealers have said that the only replaceable part is the clip otherwise it a new headlight. I've got quotes from Lea Valley Motors, CP Motors, Neo Brothers and Volvo Spares UK thru partsgateway.com - ranging from £20 - £65 . Has anyone every used these folks? Cheers Daz |

RE: 850 Headlight
On my previous 850 (facelift headlight), the ring that holds the bulb was distorted and I was able to replace it with a part from the dealer. It was, as I remember, a headlamp repair kit and was around £12 all in. I did both sides as the bulb was not being held securely, and it screwed in with three torx screws. A piece of cake, although I did remove the headlight to make access easier.
Good luck Gary |
