Newbie Here
Hello all,
I decided I was going to restore a car a while back, and after a lot of searching, found a running P1800S out here in Los Angeles, California. Now, since I'm a student, I knew this was not going to be total restoration, but the paint was shabby and the interior needed replacing. As bought, it was a candy red coupe, with *apparently* a factory ragtop sunroof. It drove, but was well worn. I also found out the red paint was not stock, so I repainted it (with rollers) to the original dark green, and the car's coming back together. A couple things are missing, carpets were muck, blah blah, but overall, I am very happy with my purchase, and I'm working on it... Also, I'm even more happy that there's a community here that's into these very non-traditional but awesome Volvos. Cheers! -SRG |

Welcome!
You could also try http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/1800list/ where there's likely to be support for you just around the corner, over there on the west coast. |

Welcome to the forum. Some pictures of the car would be great though. Preferably with loads of sun in the background.... We could do with some sun around here....

Thanks
Thank you!
Yes, the paint was an... interesting experience. I basically did what this guy did: http://board.moparts.org/ubbthreads/...0&fpart=1&vc=1 expect with a 1/10th of the talent, experience, precision, etc, etc... But like I said, it's a driver first, so I don't really care. @redcar: I used Rustoleum, which many of you may know as Tremclad (?). Its a heavy duty industrial paint-primer, the crap they use to paint rusty machinery. And I'll make sure to post some pictures soon, I just have a couple rough spots to work out. And the sun won't be a problem, we're at about 27 C right now, with dry winds |

Pictures
Yeah, the seasons here are Hot, Hotter, Hot as Hell, and Fire. I kid you not, in the past year it maybe rained 5-6 times, and 4 were drizzling.
Oh and here are some pictures of its as I got it, and 1 of the painting in progress (after the first two coats I believe). After going through the car, I found out the hard way that the car was in a bad accident that took out the front driver's side, you can tell in the pictures where there is more clearcoat than the rest. |
