Dice unit & 2012 software...
I bought this about 3 years ago to work with bot mine and my mums V70 (2004 & 2002). It has worked perfectly on both over the years, on a cleanly installed XP laptop.
It is the one with the blue LEDs, not the multicoloured ones (didn't know they even existed when I bought it!). And was purchased from a UK supplier on fleebay (not a genuine Volvo unit obviously). Problem is, I'm struggling to get it to talk to my 2007 V70 (last of the P2s), so I may have to bight the bullet and get a newer edition and hope that that works! Do these have much of a resale second hand? If its worth something i'd consider selling it to fund the newer one. So, what are these worth? I know you can still pick them up for £70+ online Failing that, I'll keep it as a spare |

Your setup should work fine on your car so before giving up on it, what exactly are the symptoms / warnings when it doesn't connect?

I think the last time I tried it just timed out saying something about not being able to connect after hitting the Read Car button. The LEDs light up on the DICE unit so it has power but they don't flash manically like they do when I connect it to the other 2002 car.
I'll connect it up over the week end and then confirm the symptoms. If I'm clever enough I'll see if I can get a video of what it does |

Hi,
Just tried to send you a PM, but as I'm a new member it says I can only send to administrators? Do you still have this, and how much are you after including P&P? I have a 2002 V70 T5 and need to reset the gearbox parameters and clear a SRS fault code I generated messing around under the drivers seat - presume it'd do that ok? I know you mentioned it worked on 2002 and 2004 cars for you, but not a newer model? Please let me know, happy to pay by Paypal if that suits and the price is right? Cheers Stu |

So, finally got round to giving this another go tonight.
I've attached some photos (as PDFs... sorry!) which show: Light status on unit - USB will flash, Top and bottom are always solid. Error codes on Dice unit test screen - not sure what these mean?! Error message in VIDA - unable to connect To me its almost like that car is not turning on the diagnostic output. I've just thought that I don't think there was a click in the dash when reading the car, something I'm pretty sure used to happen on my previous one. Any thoughts?! dodgy OBDII socket perhaps? |

Maybe a shot in the dark....if anything electronic fails to work reboot it?
Have you tried disconnecting the battery off for a few minutes and reseting everything?

Well, I've now got a new set up running windows 7 and VIDA 2014.
So, my older unit is now surplus to requirements and and such, now for sale. As mentioned above it worked perfectly on my 2003 (52) and 2004 (53) v70 D5s but NOT on my 2007 (57) V70. Any test welcome I do have a dedicated laptop for it but the spec was always a bit below the minimum, i.e.1gb ram (manually changed in one of the VIDA system files to allow installation). I still have VAG com on it (for the wifes golf at the moment but if I can get that to work on the new set up too then the laptop will also be available (might need to check I have enough power leads!) Open to offers but i guess it must be worth around £50? plus a bit more with the laptop. |

In theory... yes dongle (DICE unit USB to OBD) and VIDA 2012 on a DVD with install instructions. I'll need to double check I've got the DVD and instructions though and report back

I have all the bits together now, DICE unit, DVD and installation instructions.
I might just run the DVD tonight to check the files can still be read. Still confirm regarding availability of laptop. |
