Default Low beam indicator?

If I have lights on automatic, is there any indicator on the dash board or somewhere that low beams have actually been activated? The user manual says that car cannot always correctly determine low light conditions so driver is always responsible for applying correct lights. But I wonder if the car gives you any hint (other than to stop the car and go outside to check).
Currently I'm driving XC60 and there is nothing I'm about to order new XC90 and I've been wondering if they already corrected this obvious flaw....

If high beam indicator is not on you are in low beam.

Even during day? When I'm using daytime running lights and high beams are not enabled? I'm talking about rainy or foggy conditions during day...

Why are you all talking about high beams?

No, there is no definite indicator that your dipped beams have switched on automatically and that you are no longer showing just daytime running lights.

The only exception is that your instrument display is likely to go into dark mode, this is always noticeable when you drive into a tunnel, meaning that your auto headlamps have switched on.

Hope this helps?

Dont forget that with lights in auto you have DRLs to front and also - unlike many other cars - red side lights to the back. This makes it a lot less critical if the auto lights are a tiny bit tardy at coming on.

Thanks, so it confirms my worries
It is not a deal breaker but I just do not like that Volvo keeps omitting this. I do not get the logic there. Especially when they still claim us responsible for deciding whether the car is illuminated sufficiently but do not provide enough information about it. Those front daytime LED are in most cases strong enough, even if low (or dipped) beams are off but I just never know if my rear lights are off or on and whether cars behind me can actually see me or not....

Hm...now it is getting interesting. So rear lights are always on? Even during day? That would solve my worries And those are full rear lights or some "soft" version of that, just for daytime?

My understanding is thus:

Lights off position - front DRLs on. Back nothing
Lights in auto position - daytime - front DRLs on. Back normal red side lights on
Lights in auto position - nighttime - front headlights on. Back normal red side lights.
Lights in on position - front headlights on. Back normal red side lights.

Could be market specific of course. Where is Levice?
