Lights left on beeper
I want to fit something that will stop me leaving the lights on when I leave the car. Any opinions on the safest, most reliable method? Don't get me wrong, I don't do this often, but even once is too much.
I've seen two methods for a beeper, one literally wired into the fuse box that screamed at you when you switched off the engine with the lights on, another working when you opened the door with the lights on, using a diode. Would it also be possible to just have a warning LED fitted above the light switch, like the brake warning light in later Amazons, that would be on whenever the lights were on, including when the ignition was off? Thanks for any advice, Tom |

Why not build in a relay solution that will cut power (to the lights) whenever ign. is off?..
The buzzer-trick came as an original accessorie, back at arround 1970 when so called "driving lights" (during daytime too) became law in Sweden - so there IS an original option with a little summer/buzzer connected to the light-switch.. and it goes off when door is opened with lights on. I'll see if I can dig out the original little package with instructions..

Thank you, eastwards to Copenhagen and westwards to Connecticut. Glad to know that they were thinking of this back in the 70s.

Alf ista;
That looks like a suitable 12V buzzer/noisemaker...referring to my suggested circuit, the relay which supplies a chassis connection only when IGN is OFF still likely needs to be added. Cheers |
