Engine fail to start, crackling noise from front right wheel
Hello everybody...
I am a new member of this forum and also a relatively new owner of a MY2007 S40, 1.6L petrol engine. I have noticed some irregularities in my car and i would like to ask if any of you have heard or faced something similar. 1. Some times (about 5-6 till now) the engine starts for a second, then stops and after that it does not start unless I turn the key at position 0 and try again. I have noticed that it is happening (not all the times) after driving for about an hour and living the engine off for about 15-45 mins. 2. When accelerating if I pull my foot from the pedal the car continues to accelerate for 1-2 more seconds (with 1st or 2nd gear this is more obvious). I have reported this to the dealer's mechanic and he said that it is normal (!) 3. Some times when starting to move the car with the wheel all (or almost) the way right a crackling noise comes out from the right front whell area for a few meters and then disappears. |

Got to love dealers - that's clearly not normal and sounds borderline dangerous.

Well.....
I visited the dealer this morning and he did not find anything. He looked for any service bulleting concerning the engine stall problem but there is nothing yet. He wasn't able to reproduse the noise and he insist that the accelerator behaviour is normal (he says that in this way saves the gear box). He suggested to me to keep watching when and how the above problems appear. So I start troubleshooting myself... |

Also made a reajustment because the 3rd gear some times refused to enter, replaced the direction light switch, the boot springs..... For the others I am waiting an official reply from volvocars. |
