I've done this with other makes of car - once on a turbo VAG 1.8 (from 210 to 260 bhp) and also a turbo 5 cyl 20V (from 230 to 275 bhp). It's great, but be sure to inform your insurance company. The 5 cyl, an engine already prone to cylinder head problems had, well, cylinder head problems. I didn't have the 1.8T long enough to find out if the chip affected long term reliability.

i have seen that most factory turbos are set at the low end of the scale when it comes to boost setting. i have dialed turbo wastegates to 20 to 30 percent above factory max setting. you may set a code, you may not. the computer will inform you when it cannot control the boost. runaway boost pressure or too high setting. each 1 psi of boost i believe is 8 hp. i got an s-60 t up 30 hp. he could beat a mustang 5.0l high output off the line, street racing, to where the stang could not inch ahead to win.
