Pleased to report that the car continues to run well following the repaired injector connections.
I've replaced the front shocks with sachs and the ride is much improved, off for a wheel alignment today or tomorrow. Now to the back box, I've had a quote of 288 quid plus vat for the mechanic to replace the back box with an aftermarket one. The alternative is to replace the backbox with a breaker part. 120quid delivered for this. What does anyone recommend? |

Does that kit in post 19 just bolt on? In which case is it possible to DIY without much trouble?
Looks definitely my best option if so? Tommy |

I understand that several on this forum have used these exhausts and have been happy with them especially value for money.
I have no affiliation whatsoever with them but if my 07 XC90 needed an exhaust I would go this route and fit it myself. The photo on the ad clearly shows how it is connected and hung. Very straightforward.

An update on what you think of it once fitted would be helpful. Cheers.

I fitted the exhaust today.
It looks like an exhaust that cost less than £80! To be fair, all mounting bolts and gaskets etc were present and no issues found on installation apart from dremelling off the remains of the old bolts and the fact the new exhaust is pretty close to the brace that hangs under the propshaft tunnel. So far no knocking noticed on a short test drive. Still time will tell how it goes and lasts. If it keeps the car going another 2 yrs I will be happy, but from the look underneath I had today, the rear subframe is pretty rusty, hopefully not an MOT issue just yet... |

So since the last post the same issues emerged, misfire followed by vida faults as before with errors in signal to injector 3 associated with transmission system errors and anti skid error messages and a big red triangle on the dash.
I replaced the connector to injector 3 with the repair wire that volvo provides, soldered it into the loom and all was well. Patted myself on the back and thought all was well. Except it came back last week. Same sequence of issues... Aarrgghh! Dash lit up like Christmas tree, limp mode engaged, transmission locked in 3rd gear. Limped home 28 miles in 3rd gear! I decided to take one last punt on the car before considering scrapping it. I know the next step is considering a new injector but I suspected it was still a wiring issue. I ordered a second hand injector loom on ebay for 80 quid. Same part no but different year to my loom. Much cheaper than parts gateway or a breaker I phoned. How difficult can it be to fit I thought. Very was the answer, much more of the engine bay had to come out than I envisaged, there are 2 connectors under the car which are tricky to reconnect. I got it all connected as I thought it should be and turned the key. Click. Vida showed an issue with the glow plug relay which was sorted easily. Turned the key again, click. Vida showing no connection to bake control module. Turned out to be a loose +VE connection that I had forgotten to tighten. Third time, engine started straight away. No issues on a brief test drive so all hopefully is well. No significant error messages remaining. Hoping this is the end of the issue! |
