How much fuel in the tank?
I keep mine full, half a tank is empty as far as I'm concerned and it gets filled at my earliest convenience. I have never heard the in tank pump. If you are lower on fuel it's possible you are getting a bit of resonance as the tank acts as a sounding board and you now hear the pump. My understanding is that it's a saddle tank and fuel is pumped from one side to the other to keep levels equal. Paul. |

Closure of my noisy fuel pump problem
I agree with the suggestions to keep the tank well-filled. I have taken the car to a specialist and they have inspected the fuel system, including checking the fuel filter. What they came up with was a 'jammed' swirl vane system at the inlet manifold. The servo motor was OK but the actuator arm was broken as well as the butterfly valves sticking. All fixed with new parts and the car is running well again with no pump noise now. The injectors were removed and cleaned at the same time. I am going to buy an OBDII fault code reader and keep an eye out for fault codes. PL. 141119

Cheshird5 on here sells them, tested and known to work, it's where I got mine from. Many of the eBay ones have problems, simons don't as the problem ones are sent back before he sells them on. Paul. |
