Got in to work and randomly decided that I should check my wheels for overheating due to stuck caliper which happens every so often. Rear off side was hot which means an evening in the dark on the driveway. Got home and checked the disc temperatures. 11˚C/11˚C/12˚C/256˚C. Stripped down the caliper and cleaned up the piston. The metal spring holding on the gator was rusted suggesting water had got in. All together and all was well again. Ordered up refurb kit as I need a new gator.

Finally got to do an ATF drop.
Had to remove the air filter for access but even then it was tight getting the yellow dipstick out, there was a big wiring loom running about 40mm above it so had to pull it up and bend it to the right.
I cut down a nozzle off a mastic tube to fit in the dipstick hole and pushed that into some 13mm tubing with a small funnel on the end to re-fill with the jws 3309 fluid from here: JWS 3309
3 litres came out of the gearbox and was pretty black so maybe it had never been done before, 185k on the car now.

Also did the oil and filter.

Default engine mounts

Got organised to fit replacement vacuum engine mounts to my 2003 D5.
Had to put the old mounts back as the ones I had ordered from Skandix were the non vacuum type. my fault- They look the same as the vacuum ones.
I would be interested to know what volvos take the non vacuum mounts, just in case Skandix don't take them back.

Replaced the handbrake shoes again and adjusted the handbrake. Seems to be spot on once more. Also popped a couple of Meyle rear droplinks on. Still more jobs in the pipeline though

After noticing left hyper-flashing and replacing an 1157A (amber, 2 filament parking/turn signal bulb) I got the urge to take the '02 through New Jersey's biannual inspection 45 days early. I believe they allow 60.

It passed. We don't have advisories here.

Emissions lamp came on. Pulled a P0171. Went hunting for air leaks. Found a split 'elbow' on a vacuum hose.

Replaced it with one from my 850 & cleared the code.
All good again and fuel consumption rising

Front droplinks replaced. Drivers side was the droplink from hell, so once again out with the grinder. Also spent 20 mins working the turbo vane actuator with a Mityvac. Hopefully that'll have freed up the suspected stuck vanes.
