Default Urgent PCV advice please

As per heading have hit a brick wall on manifold removal and prob almost certainly lower bolts.

Have removed dipstick holder

Have removed or loosened 7 upper bolts as required

Manifold ain't shifting but cannot see any lower bolts which could be holding her in place. Size, orientation of the bolts I need to find and remove would be greatly appreciated.

Or any body with knowledge lazing about in East London - that is where you will find me !

Is it a 12mm vertical bolt immediately behind the dipstick support bracket?

Yeah cheers mate sorted that, manifold now off. Requesting some advice regarding the lower port. I have a 14inch zip tie and can push 12 inches of it into the port and draw oil on the end of it.

Is their anything else I can do to insure that the lower port is clear?

A small nylon bottle brush can help remove the crud and also don't forget the upper port.

Just seen this, but yes - that's an awkward bugger to get to, isn't it?
How did you get on? All back together yet...?

Thanks for responses chaps wot a bloody nightmare !!

I am led to believe this is a 6/7 hour job. Given I spent an hour trying to locate the bolt behind the dipstick, 2 hours cleaning the old gasket off the manifold and polishing, an hour and a half getting the concealed bolt on the oil trap to bite the thread no it is not all back to bloody together again after 14 hours !!!!

Can anybody assist as to why the gasket I have comes with 5 separate port gaskets in addition to the one which covers the entire manifold ?

Even worse the PCV as a whole was in far better condition than I expected, leaving me to the conclusion that the positive crankcase pressure is not being caused by the breather. Pipes respectable, have yet to cut the oil trap in half but it does not feel much heavier than the new one and both ports clear as far as I could tell.

If this proves to be correct what is the likely or possible cause please.

And one for the engineers out there - why do the ports reduce so dramatically internally ?

I was really surprised that I could not even get the head/clasp of the cable tie through which makes me wonder why there is so much talk re upgrading to larger diam pipe ?

You have my sympathies, Bigfella, it's not the easiest of jobs hanging over that engine bay for so long.

Is it a genuine Volvo kit or an aftermarket kit? The 5 separate sound like exhaust manifold gaskets.

What parts have you replaced so far?
