Default Volvo Gathering at Bentley 17th June

WARNING!

If you will be approaching this annual event from the west, somewhere you will have to cross the route of the London - Brighton cycle-ride. This means THEY will close all the roads affected off to motor vehicles - a friend reported the signs are out this morning.
That means if you are planning on joining/crossing that route at Turners Hill as I do, think again. Initial suggestion - go south on the A23 to the Bolney underpass and head east there, but consult your map before making that decision.
I really must say this closing of roads takes scant regard of those HAVING to cross that route that morning. Another friend lives at Smallfield, down a long cul-de-sac off the cycle route, and is a shift-worker at Gatwick Airport, west of it. He has no choice at shift-start time yet when he asked his options they merely shrug their shoulders, saying park a mile away off the route. Half an hours walk at 6am isn't his choice.....

After studying the many roads that will be closed for this cycle run, the conclusion round here is to head directly south on the main A23 all the way to just after the statues announcing the start of Brighton, then head up the flyover to go east on the A27. The cycle-route crosses this road at a flyover a few miles along (so no problem to us there) and at the Lewes turn-off take the 2nd one, under the tunnel then aim for Ringmer at the fork on the main road out of town. Bentley is signed after a few miles.
Hope to see you there.
