Having had XC90s in gold, then silver, I was really hoping for the bronze one (with blond interior) as my third. So nice choice!
I was a little put-off by how dark it is (except in direct sunlight), and would have preferred a lighter bronze such as seen on ship propellers, like a dark brass colour.
The Volvo bronze has now been replaced by Brown - just who at Volvo decided that was a good idea?

I think this article explains the current colour choices perfectly.

Ab uk, cheers. The colour was lucky as the main reason i got the car was it was fitted with just about every extra except a panroof. The 5 k dealer reduction made it a no brainer. The same model and spec car in france was 53k euros which even after changing headlights and registration saved about 26 k euros by buying it in the uk and exporting it to France.
As it gets to 40 degrees here a pan roof makes the interior a bit too warm even with the pull across shade. People here usually have solid black glass roof instead. The colour is quite dark except in sun. As we get a bit of that here it works ok.
Car prices in france are nutty to put it mildly. We have just sold a french motorhome for more than we paid for it after keeping it for five years. The french couple who bought it did not try to reduce the price at all. Crazy!

Crockers would be disappointed if I didn’t have somrthing to say on the subject... I don’t have a Volvo (but have had a few - 2 green, 2 metallic red, one solid red and one (company car) in black... guess which was newest??

When I was looking this time at the new XC60 I had decided it was going to be metallic red (flamenco?). In the end I had an Audi - and much as the sales people were pushing black or various shades of grey I stood my ground and had Matador red. It’s not quite as nice as the Mazda equivalent - but it isn’t black, white, silver or grey so I am good.

Audi and BMW let you pick individual colours in addition to normal metallic - for BMW, you can have normal metallic, special metallic and then true individual - but at £3k for the latter, you have to be keen....

I think about this topic maybe once a week. Its a real shame that manufacturers are offering limited colours, and it seems that when you get into the premium paints, the colours are even more limited. When I look out the window it is a sea of greys, whites, blacks and just one rather smart look Kia Rio in scarlet red.

My V60 is caspian blue, which I quite like, but the flamenco red that was also on offer looks great, just couldn't find one at all for sale, couldn't move for all the Saville Grey options which to me didn't look good at all.

Ford do an excellent deep blue and a fantastic shade of red on the Mondeo. Likewise Mazda do a great shade of red on the Mazda 6.

My last car was British Racing Green (it was a Rover 75), by far the best colour available on it at the time and would always leave me turning back for one last look as I walked away. I've seen a Jaguar XF in the same colour in the carpark at work, quite a high spec so it has some extra chrome, it looks brilliant.

I wonder if grey/black and white, even in premium options are cheaper to make than other colours?

It's a self fulfilling prophecy. Sell lots of black and white cars. Say others will lose value. Then people will keep buying the "safe bet"

But.... go back 15 years ago and white wasn't sold as it didn't hold its value. Then fast forward and now its fashionable.

Also, as a high proportion of new cars are leased /pcp/'company cars. Residual value is crucial. This affects colour choice.

As I said, I went to buy a silver or white premium metallic car and came away ordering blue.

Which is why I am hoping someone could set up a poll, with an additional question about the choice of colour being related to a private v company purchase.
