Does anyone buy one of these with their own money 💰 or are they all company cars chosen for the tax break?

Mine is a Company Car, and if I wanted it I wold buy it on the Company, but tbh if you think about it a T8 plate is only related to a T8, and I doubt I would own another one after this one.

So it would have to be very very cheap to warrant it and then leave it with the car.

Mine will be a company car for the tax breaks and opportunity to use up company surplus cash.

Sorry. I wasn't talking about plates but the car itself. I cant see any attraction for a private buyer. If performance was my aim then there are other marques out there. But as a company purchase it makes tax sense to the co car driver. I was just wondering anyone took the plunge with their own hard earned cash. I was baulking at the mpg of the T5 until I saw the £3500 saving over the D5 'With our now more moderate annual mileage the T5 made economic sense.

I did the maths very carefully indeed and looked at lease or buy a T8 through my company or lease or buy a D5 privately.

It was a no brainer to go T8 through the Ltd, (and slightly better / lower risk to lease than buy outright) it works out considerably cheaper than a private D5, for what, I thought (having tried both extensively) is a substantially superior package. D76

ha ha yes I noticed now. Primarily it was the only car on the market for me to put into my business at present

Though TBH I would buy it private on the deal I got, but for one reason only, it is generally the only car out there of this type at the moment SUV Fast, decent all round power, good ride, fairly cheap to run, £599 for 5 year servicing.

So far I have got to pretty well 50MPG over the 1500 miles I have had it.

It is a Complicated Beast and still a learning curve atm, but overall I am really pleased, give it a year though and there will be loads of others around, possible better cars.

Yes the only other choice for me was an ipace or epace but had too many jlr's in the past and liked the look of the XC60. Would have probably gone for an XC40 if they had an hybrid.

In 3 years there will be a bigger choice of electric/hybrid and hope the tax breaks still remain.

Yes but has anyone bought one privately. Not through a company or as a company car? If so why?

@Goodshot I had deposit for Ipace, and was about to buy, but when specced up it was £80k for the one I wanted, HSE and that had to include items like carpets, heated steering wheel, privacy glass that was still not standard, and they refused to even chuck in a set of mats, so told them to stick it, deposit back, week later they were on the phone to me trying to do a deal, but had all ready ordered T8

I would have preferred a XC40 T8

Regarding OP, I am sure there are private buyers, not many, but that said, when you get to £50k+ cars how many private buyers are there now days?

Would I have bought my AMG GLA45 or the T8 if it had been available privately 2 1/2 years ago, tough call, tbh I may well have done for a private sale, as the AMG was bought out of my business, and not in a million yrs buy that car for business use.

Yes I bought one last month privately. Replaced my MY17 XC90 D5 Momentum and my MY16 Golf GTE with one. We moved house and the Golf was spending most of the time sitting on the drive unused. We decided to replace them both with a MY16 XC90 Inscription which was a very highly specified. It was an ex-lease car and had covered under 7k miles in 2.5years.

So we now have a ‘52 plate Suzuki Jimny with 53k miles on the clock sitting unused for much of the time instead. Come the Highland winter, I suspect the Jimny will see much more use.
