Default Vida works on mine, but not on my pals-V70

Hi has anyone had a similar problem to this-i have vida which works fine on my car, however my pal who bought a V70 on my recommendation and has fault codes asked me to read the codes, but my vida won't get up the codes,it recognizes the car in bringing up the vin no but the strip where it says-''diagnostics'' stays in a grey colour not black like all the rest of the functions, and when i click it sometimes it will come up in blue,i have tried clicking everything to no avail,i don't understand why it reads mine and not his i have never tried to read any other car barring mine,so is it my set up or his car has a communication problem, any thoughts are greatly appreciated, cheers

Hi I had helped a Volvo owner out that had a dice and could not read his car so he then ordered another one, his car was a V70R,
I then got the mains lead out and a 12v psu and pluged it into the socket under the rubber stopper on the dice, then it worked,
so I got his car manual and looked up the fuse for the OBD2 port and removed it and fitted a new one and now it all works well, the fuse just needed a clean
but there are some replacements on the panel ,
it is on the drivers side of the dashboard, you have to have the door open to see the fuse panel ,

On the front screen where it shows the car details with the diagnosis tab greyed our, you have to manually fill in the empty boxes such as steering side, gearbox and special vehicle- all drop downs- then the diagnosis tab should activate.

This is going to sound strange but I’ve had some luck clicking on the software tab first before going to diagnostics. On my version at least it seems to wake up the software to the news connection.

I’ve also found that it gets stuck on the original vehicle sometimes. Run the Dice diagnostics to make sure it’s alive and well and then get it to “read” the new vehicle.
