I wouldn't go with aftermarket cat...I've tried that twice and both failed causing ECM6805 through collapse and partial blockage. I replaced with a genuine Volvo, second hand from Huddersfield Volvo breakers and been fine ever since.

Some pointers, please?
I'm still waiting and shopping for bits, but in the meantime: Before I changed the wishbones I had a "creak" from suspension when I was turning the steering wheel. Occurred nearly exclusively (or I didn't hear it due to other sounds) at minimal to zero speed, for example parking up. Think of the steering wheel centered. Move it 10 o'clock then 2 o'clock then 10 again.. Each move of the wheel is accompanied by that creak. Not too loud, but can be heard inside. Especially with windows closed. If I was to keep moving the wheel either way past 10 or 2 o'clock, I'd have only that initial creak, then normal silent operation. Obviously something's flexing. Changed the wishbones (bushes were worn) and.. Creak is still with me.. Suspects? I just tried to locate source by ear- friend of mine was wiggling the steering wheel, I was listening by the front wheels.. Nope.. Too much traffic on the road, too much noise. I will try again later. But for now.. Anyone?

Checking the CV joints won't do any harm. I replaced mine about 2 years ago with SKF. No creaks since then.

And that was my prime suspect also..
Now, since morning I've done some "jumps" between shops and jobs.. And home, to take in a delivery.. Was paying attention to that creak. It occurs only with steering centered or around center, not on locks. Mostly when passing trough center (reversing into parking space), and mostly, but not always, with reverse engaged. And I do know that gaiters are split, one of them has spit out quite a bit of grease.. And of course creak comes from that very side of car.. Joints themselves are nearly new, so I guess new load of grease and new gaiters should help.. Just 20 minutes ago I took in delivery of shocks (trip home for it), and whilst I was waiting, I ordered shock covers with orange bump stops, SKF CV gaiters (I do hope it is a good choice), meyle ball joints and rubber spring insulator, bottom. Fingers crossed..

I think they are same ones I bought from Amazon 18 months ago, ie Hilka 12700055 Heavy Duty. Yhey didn't bend or slide off! They were then around £18 delivered. They are currently on offer via Amazon from £14.44 delivered

One suspicion on that creak... If the springs are not seated correctly, the spring will rub to the wheel arch.
That can happen when a small bit of the coil breaks off, the spring turns on the strut and the part of spring that is supposed to be on the outside for more clearance sits now on the inside. Maybe someone can turn the wheel while the other inspects the springs.

Good thinking..
But no. I had a good long look into both spring towers when I was changing wishbones. Dirty in there, but nothings broken. I was also thinking that springs move it top seats/rough bearings on top strut plates, but all that turns smoothly. Thus I wasn't ordering the seats and bearing plates..
