got locked out of my own car while replacing the drivers door lock actuator...I was demonstrating my symptoms for a youtube video and forgot that I locked all four doors as part of my demo. Car was running, I shut the door and wammo...locked out. How annoying. Luckily there is a thread on Matthews Volvo site that explains how to break back in...10min later, back in business! Wow, do not rely on those locks to protect valuables, very easy to break in.

Thumbs up

Put the V70 in for some maintenance work, to find out that the A/C condenser is goosed and the radiator has started to leak!
Better get them fixed, while it's there.

Airbag issue sorted - loose connection.
Front brake pads replaced.
Front lower control arms with new bushes replaced.
Steering lock limiters replaced.
Front lower ball joints replaced.
All four drop links replaced with Meyle HD's.

None of these were necessary now, but I am planning on eventually replacing/upgrading the whole underside of the car, over the next few years.

Gary

Replaced the passenger door mirror of my XC70 with a second hand one from eBay. The old one had the rear cover smashed by some muppet who thought breaking mirrors as they walked home from the pub was fun. Was unable to source a new cover and new units are, apparently 269 plus vat and on a 2 month backorder. Hence preloaded. The old mirror is available for parts to anyone who’ll stump up the cost of posting it.

Then fitted a Grom USB and Bluetooth box. Couldn’t get the HU 850 back in with the whole Grom loom and box behind it, so it’s currently sitting where the cup holders belong. It works though - so now I’ve got two phones, a cd changer in the dash and the choice of playing 10 folders from a usb stock or streaming from the mobile. All this just so I can talk to the office without the marginal reception of the original Volvo phone.

Other stuff to do soon

1. Buy vida/dice
2. Read codes - engine service and 4C have flashed recently, the latter only once
3. Replace transmission fluid
4. Oil, filter, fuel filter and air filter change - cabin already done
5. Some bushes
6. ?

7. Buy an Alfa?

I learned the low tire pressure warning system is working on my '07.
My Viking snows, purchased mounted on steels years ago, don't have TPMS units.
8 miles of driving passed before the warning to come on.
The '02 didn't have TPMS.

Does anyone know if wheel p/n 9173122 is correct for the P2's?
I think they might be from an 850. The tire size is 215-55-16.

It fits the P2.

Hi Georgeandkira,
I don't think those will fit as they are the early 850 wheels that have a 4 bolt fixing not the five wheel bolts used on later 800 series models and the P2s unless there is a North America/USA variant.
Cheers
Alan

I didn’t do it but a nice man did the Geartronic/bevel/diff/Haldex oils and filter today using all OE oils/filter.
Happy as.

The wheels mentioned do fit onto the P2 hubs as they've been on the two examples I've owned.

It's just that the fronts rub on turns.

My 2002 sported 195-65-15 tires on Lysithia alloy wheels and never rubbed
The '07 has 205-55-16 tires on Echo alloys and will touch a bit during a turn.

I'm hoping and praying the wheel rub I'm experiencing now is due to the snow tires' 215-55-16 size.
This will be the Viking's last season. I'll replace 'em with 195 width.

I was verifying the correctness of the steel wheel and am praying the 195 width will provide enough clearance.

If there was a 15" steel wheel for the P2 I'd seek out a set of 4.
Does anyone know if Volvo made P2 steels in 15"?
My 16's have rusted up a bit. I'll clean/derust/prime and repaint 'em if there's enough metal remaining.

I am 100% sure that Volvo made P2 steels in 15".
I have a spare car (2001 V70 2.5TDI) which came with these. However the wheels are very rusted since the car has been sitting outside for a couple of years. I will try to check the part number for you.
