Default 140 Series Daily

Hi,

Sorry to make my first post here an ask, but I'm just coming to the end of another project (non-Volvo but 1960s) and am looking at what's next!

What I'd love to be next is a Volvo 140 series to replace my current 'modern' daily. Preferably a 144 or 145, but I realise these are a little rare in the UK at least and choice will be further limited by my budget being under £5k.

However, I am quite willing to be patient (perhaps you want to keep it until the end of show season?) and also pick it up from pretty much anywhere in the UK. Hope to hear from somebody soon. Ta.

I ran slightly bedraggled 140s as my only car for many years without bother. The heavy steering and rot were the main bugbears, compensated for by that excellent heater and A60 levels of simplicity. Honest quality Volvos before they went all FWD and trendy.
That was in the Eighties. Now I'd plump for a good 240- easier to find parts, PAS, a bit more go and the same brilliant Sixties shell.
Happy hunting, they are about!

Aye, I've used a Morris Minor as a daily for a few years - also beautifully simple and with great parts availability. I imagine 140 parts are a little thinner on the ground but I'm up for the challenge!

... although if a bright yellow 240 comes along, who knows.

You might want to get in touch with the guy who posted this in the For Sale section.

Halkyon - if you fancy a bright yellow early 245 (with the rare square headlights) which needs a bit of body love, I have one!
Bought last year to restore, it drove then but since then have had some hospital work which has kept me grounded. Currently stored inland from Bognor, on the south coast.

That sounds great, how is the interior? Perhaps you could PM some pics?

Halkyion - seeing as you are a recent new member I am thinking you have to use this system about 30 times before you can do PMs: may be wrong so either confirm you've arranged things with the admin people or send your email address for the pics I have. I'm too dim to be able to put any on here!
Haven't got many interior shots yet but assuming the forecast blizzards don't come mid next week can take some more for you, as have to meet up with my landlord there.

Oh aye, I don't think I'll hit 30 posts too soon. Would appreciate pics and a rough idea of what you're looking for money wise.

Have just found where Tayport is - the best part of 600 miles from my car! I have never continued any interest I might have had on a car that way from home, as the car-transporting costs would be massive!
However, in case you still want to discuss, my email is paultill@tesco.net (as I said on my PM in case it gets through).

Indeed, but I'm 'down south' fairly regularly so it's just a matter of timing.
