Adding to audio system high performance sound

Has anyone added an under seat sub woofer to this audio system?
How hard would it be? Is the a special harness to connect to the Volvo amp?

I have just had a Bury Bluetooth kit fitted so this may help with tapping the speaker wires.

Is there any other mods anyone has done like changing or adding speaker? The centre dash Is begging to have something under that grill.

Have you checked the amount of space under the seats? Anything bigger than a fag packet is going to be a squeeze.

Funny you say that as I checked an hour ago and yes not a lot of space, assumed there would be more.

back to the drawing board, need another location (boot, under dash?).

There was an OE subwoofer located in the boot on some models.

Between 2nd and 3rd rows there is a space that you could fit a custom made box into.... otheriwse think about retrofitting the OEM subwoofer, goes behind the left hand rear boot panel

Or build a custom enclosure to fit in the boot space under the floor, behind the 3rd row seats...

No third row in my car lol.

At least for my model, a 2012 XC70, there is no kit available from Volvo to put in the original subwoofer unless you ordered it with the car. The audio system isn't prepared for it and there's no software available for such an update at a later date.

Thus you can give up the Volvo original sub woofer by now. You have to do something else, and you probably have to tap into loudspeaker lines, as there's no low-level high quality signal available when your car didn't have the sub woofer from the beginning.

I put a sub in my xc70 that fits under the boot floor between the spare wheel & the rear seats. This allows the boot to be used as before. I fitted a Pioneer TS-WX710A, which takes high level or low level inputs. Works well.

OP has an S80, not V or XC70.
I seem to recall from the options list (many years ago when I was considering one) that even if Dynaudio/Premium Sound was ordered, there was no sub. option for the S80, presumably lack of space for the usual Volvo unit - and maybe not so necessary in a saloon anyway...?

I have the Dynaudio in mine (best sound system I've ever had in a car) the large door speakers deal with the sub frequencies.
