Default Niggling Issues

So haven’t used the car for a couple of weeks. Today when driving into town I go to put on cruise control and nothing. Upon stopping I discover that brake lights remain on (assume these two issues are related). Quick toe up on the brake pedal and lights go off. Assume I need a new brake pedal switch. Then to make matters worse on the drive home, the engine system service required warning comes on. Quick check on on board diagnostics and code 097 appears which seems to relate to overfill of oil. Interesting in that it is four months since the last oil change and has done a number of miles since the oil change.

I had a similar issue with my last V70 brake light switch. I removed the switch, gave it a good clean with contact cleaner and cycled the full range of the switch a few times (the pedal doesn’t necessarily cycle the full range). Then put it back and adjusted and it worked fine.

If this doesn’t work and the switch is knackered, they are around a tenner on fleabay.

Ok so have replaced both brake light pedal switches and lights on still on permanently. Any other ideas? Have had to remove fuse while car parked to stop battery draining

So turns out new switch was faulty. A further switch fitted and back to norm.
