Default C30 heater fan.

Hi I wonder if I could get some advice please. I turned the dial on my 59 plate C30 and there was nothing from the blower . The dial is showing up and down bars but no air coming out. I was a bit confused with the fuse box. I tried swapping the green 40a fuses but still nothing. There are no auto electricians nearby . Any thoughts? Thanks James

Default Blower fan

Morning, does no one have any ideas? Will I need to put it into a garage?

Thanks James

Hello James.

First off, copy and paste your query into a new thread in the vehicle specific part of this forum. That should generate some interest.

As for the fault...

Test at the fuse for voltage. Volt meter or test lamp will suffice.

One your satisfied there is voltage there can only be four other elements
1. The Switch....but unlikely as yours is at very least showing that it commands the display.

2. Blower motor resistor pack, usually attached to it near the blower motor. Usual
symptoms for these is that only full speed works with no lower speeds are available.

3. Blower motor has failed. I can only go with a Google and YouTube searches which
suggests dash out and specialist tool to remove motor. This is usually preceded by noise
from the motor or when set at one speed on the dial you can hear fluctuations of
the actual motor speed.

4. Broken or chafed wire somewhere.

I fear that is as good as it gets and if testing for faults is not your forte then workshop time it is. A Volvo specialist will be a better bet as they will have seen/repaired this before.
An Auto Electrician may or may not have and if they are on an hourly rate it becomes an expensive repair.

Cheers

Dave
