Default Volvo USB Adapter question

A saw a recent catalogue where Volvo are doing a USB adapter to fit into the radio for non iPod MP3 players. I think I saw this for the C30 but appears available for other models. Some info here.

I was wondering (1) if there is an aftermarket source for these (i.e. cheaper than Volvo branded) and (2) what radio head units they'd plug into and finally (3) will these plug into older Volvos (related to item (2) I guess).

Thinking it would be a useful retro fit, easier and more flexible solution to fitting a multi CD changer.

I know the Volvo branded Digital Jukebox for MP3 is sourced from PhatNoise and is their PhatBox. I'm guessing the iPod interface is also outsourced (the USA Spec kit does the job too) so a good bet is the USB interface is too.

Any advice welcome
