Default High oil pressure xc60 2.0 181hp

Hello,

I have a problem with my 2015 Volvo XC60 2.0 181Hp, the oil pressure at idle is 2.5 Bar and at 3000 rpm the pressure goes up to 6-7 Bar. I have this pressure also with warm and cold engine.

Have you encountered this problem before?

Thank you

It doesn't sound unusual... are you using the correct oil and how did you measure the oil pressure? are you aware of the correct readings?

The problem is that I don't know what values would be recommended for this model.
Volvo Oil 0w20

I measured with the ThinkDiag interface

You ideally want to measure the oil pressure with a mechanical gauge as well to confirm. What problems have you got with the car? As clan says the oil pressure readings don’t sound bad.

Crankcase pressure on the other hand is more a concern. If you have heavy engine breathing, oil leaks and oil consumption it is this you want to be measuring.

I wasn't aware there was a oil pressure transducer are you reading gearbox pressure perhaps?

The problem is that I have a small oil leak, I thought this leak is due to high oil pressure.

Oil leaks are common on these engines especially on the cam cover and cam shaft sealing caps. Have you found the source? Most likely just a failed gasket/ seal. I wouldn’t be concerned with oil pressure unless you have any other reason to be.

I found oil under the car. I also had the DPF full, took it to be cleaned but the oil leak is still there.
I have no leaks in the cam cover.

Yeah our XC60 2015 2.0 D4 is also showing this oil in that same area, we removed the DPF which was also full (ash not soot) its been cleaned and back on but while the DPF was off you could clearly see oil was coming down the back of the engine from high up, we think it's the rocker box cover, as I tried to order a new seal but the parts department told me these were superseded with a new rocker box cover and seal. If you have the 2017 model then you can get a new seal but older models than this or at least in our case the 2015 model needed the complete new cover and diesel injector washers. We're going to do this job shortly, have just ordered the parts. Seems like it should be a recall as a rocker cover shouldn't give by, surely... but there you go!!

Welcome to modern Volvo.

Perhaps it was cheaper to make the all-in-one cover and gasket and perhaps, as with the oil control rings (also a problem for early VEA engines), it was a decision that came back and bit them on the b*m.
