Generally the advice given by manufactures and safety groups is Don't use CC when the road surface is wet.

Here it is in black and white (well yellow) it also says the cc automatically trips off if the wheels spin or lock....I personally would risk it if it's not hydroplaning conditions....that's if my car had it fitted at least!

What are hydroplaning conditions... a wet or oily road!

Hydroplaning conditions are when there is more water on the road than the tyre can dissipate.
I don't routinely drive on oil so don't really have to consider that situation very often.

I think what you have to remember is that you are 'preaching' to (mainly) people who agree with you. There will be some differences at which point people consider it unsafe to use cruise control, but most will at least recognise there's a point where that's the case

I have noticed that my CC on my 2002 V70 does not engine brake as much as I would like, so a hill with a speed camera at the bottom, usually requires me to intervene with a dab of the brakes. Otherwise I think it is great on motorways and anywhere I want to stick to a speed/speed limit.

I too can also confirm that CC is not as fuel efficient as a careful driver, on roads that require varying throttle input, as against a flat motorway.

I have cc on my manual mg zt but always found it annoying with it turning off when changing gear! Am looking forward to trying it in my auto c70 as I imagine it to be much more useful with an auto box? Not that I actually know this

I've voted don't use it.I've had at least 6 cars[including the 2 I currently own]that have had cruise control fitted but I've never used it on any of them, reason being I've never felt the need to.
